SEK decides and acts within its Statute and the Law, totally independent of employers, the government, political parties or other non-trade union influences.
All the above are safeguarded by the Executive Bodies, provided for by the Statute, which are:

The top executive officer of SEK is the General Secretary, who is elected by the all-Cyprus Conference. Demetris Kittenis is currently General Secretary of SEK.


a) All-Cyprus Conference
It convenes every four years. It studies and decides on various problems concerning workers and the country in general, and elects the officers of the movement. It comprises elected representatives of the Associations of SEK, with a set ratio according to the number of members of each Association.

b) General Council
It comprises elected officers of the SEK all-Cyprus Conference, the Conferences of the SEK Federations and the Labour Centres.
It convenes every six months and monitors the promotion of the decisions of the all-Cyprus Conference. It replaces the all-Cyprus Conference in the period between the two conferences and decides on issues that emerge in the meantime.

c) Executive Committee
It comprises the General Secretary and the other members of the General Secretariat, elected by the all-Cyprus Conference, and the General Secretaries of the Federations of SEK and the District Secretaries of the Free Labour Centres: Nicos Moiseos, Petros Theophanous, Dimitris Michail, Soteris Kalogirou, Nicos Epistithiou, Pantelis Stavrou, Michalis Michail, Nicos Tambas, Yiannakis Ioannou, Periklis Perikleous, Elissaios Michail , Neophytos Konstantinou, Pampos Ioannides, Savvas Georgiou, Michael Kalafatis, Andreas Poullis and Neophytos Xenophontos.
It convenes once a month and promotes the decisions of the all-Cyprus Conference in the context of the programmes approved by the General Council. It is also responsible for monitoring the smooth operation of the movement all over Cyprus.

d) General Secretary
It comprises the General Secretary, the Deputy General Secretary, the General Organiser, the General Treasurer, and the Secretary of Public and International Relations. The five members of the General Secretariat are elected directly by the delegates of the all-Cyprus Conference: Nicos Moiseos, Petros Theophanous, Dimitris Michail, Soteris Kalogirou and Nicos Epistithiou.

e) Other bodies
For the proper and effective operation of the above-mentioned bodies, the SEK Statute provides for other assisting bodies, such as:

3. Professional Office
